The Good Companion
Members from the Acton Hill church meet every Wednesday morning from 11.00 am to 12.00pm in the lounge. The idea is to extend our fellowship by getting the members out another day of the week and for social interaction. The mornings consist of the singing of favourite hymns, prayers, bible readings, poetry, flower arranging and anything that is worth sharing, each week a different topic. We also regularly invite speakers to come and share with us, and occasionally have outings to various places of interest. We warmly welcome anyone to our meetings. PLEASE NOTE: The Good Companion is currently suspended until after COVID restrictions have been removed.

The Gospel Chorale
Come and join the Gospel Chorale and help us to rebuild a stronger group. The Gospel Chorale was formed in 1995 under the ministry of Rev. Rudy Dixon. There were 25 members of the group at the outset and its mission statement focused on outreach work in the wider community. During the time of strong membership the group sang at various venues and events, including the Queen’s Silver Jubilee. Although membership has dwindled the group continues its outreach work, having musical evenings twice per year with residents at different homes in Acton who are always appreciative. We have staged annual concerts for many years raising funds for the church, and now more than ever, our effort in this regard is vital. We have also raised funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, the Sickle Cell Society and Meadow House Hospice, Ealing. The group practices on Thursday evenings from 7.30pm and sings during morning service on the second Sunday of the month. PLEASE NOTE: rehearsals are currently suspended until after COVID restrictions have been removed.

The Robed Choir
Our traditional SATB Robed Choir sings music from the great heritage of church music. We practice after coffee (12.30) on Sundays for an hour and sing an anthem every third Sunday each month. Recently we have sung works by Thomas Campion, Bach, Purcell, Maurice Greene, Mozart, Beethoven, Wesley, Tertius Noble, Vaughan Williams, Caleb Simper, Martin Shaw, Roger Quilter, George Dyson, Eric Thiman and John Rutter. Do you like singing? Then come and sing with us – all are welcome – no audition! We will teach you to read music in our very friendly group. We hope you will join us. PLEASE NOTE: rehearsals are currently suspended until after COVID restrictions have been removed.

Iris Axon Concert Series
Now in its seventeenth year, the Iris Axon Concert Series is an annual season of short (60-70 minute) monthly recitals on Sunday afternoons at the Acton Hill Church. The series was started by Music Director Jane Schopf in 2004 to provide a venue for young musicians starting on their professional careers, many of whom have subsequently enjoyed international success in competitions and on the concert platform. The series has continued to grow and now attracts established international artists as well.
Originally called the Acton Classical Music Concert Series, it was re-named in 2009 in memory of one of its most loyal supporters, Iris Axon, who generously made possible the purchase of our magnificent concert grand, handmade for us by Clive Pinkham (Cornwall). This beautiful instrument has an excellent touch and tone. The church is ideal for concerts as it has the largest unsupported wooden barrel-vault ceiling in London which brings out the middle harmonics, creating a luxuriously warm sound.
